About Us
100th Turtle is a results-oriented platform for temporary disengagement from artist networking in Tacoma. The 100th Turtle Party experience offers a unique opportunity to create NO Connections by scheduling NO Events with NO Artists.
These anti-gatherings, take place in designated cafes, parks, libraries, bookstores, and other public Tacoma spaces. Participants whose identities remain unknown to one another agree to arrive at an assigned time and remain alone, quiet and un-connected, whilst knowing that another party member maybe present.
100th Turtle parties last for a duration of 1 - 30 minutes, after which participants disperse and return to their regular creative lives.
What is "The Hundredth Turtle?"
Scientists studying box turtle behavior on an island observed that the turtles had virtually no interaction with each other (the exception being sex) and yet the colony flourished.
The scientists noticed that if you placed 100 turtles together in a pen, the turtles would stop at nothing to try and escape the company of the other turtles.
This is called critical mass: The scales tipped and suddenly all turtles were probing the perimeter fence looking for freedom.
The 100th turtle can be an ordinary person--not the most outstanding one in the community. The idea is that once an idea gains the acceptance and is practiced consciously by at least 100 people, it seems to take on a life of its own and become disseminated broadly as if by quantum leaps.
